Setting Up a Buzzsprout Subscription for Your Podcast

Setting up your Buzzsprout subscription will only take a few minutes, and it will allow you to monetize your podcast as well as provide special episodes for your listeners!

Start by heading to the Monetization page in your account and clicking on the Subscriptions tab. As long as you are on a paid Buzzsprout plan, you will be able to set this up!

First, you'll need to choose what type of subscription you want to offer. There are 5 different types of content you can choose from. Let's break down each type:
  • Premium Episodes - Offering premium episodes to your subscribers allows them to access episodes only available to paying listeners.
  • Early Access - This option allows your subscribers to listen to episodes before non-paying listeners.
  • Back Catalog Access - Limit access to your episode archive with the back catalog access option.
  • Subscriber-Only Podcast - Want to make the whole show subscriber-only? Then select this option, and only paying subscribers will be able to listen!
  • Ad-Free Episodes - Let your listeners access your episodes without ads by becoming a paying subscriber.

Once you've selected your subscription type, you can begin filling out your Subscription Settings.

You'll need the following info:
  • Title: We will default your subscription title to your podcast name plus "+". But we recommend that you update the title to be something original to your podcast!
  • Benefit Message: Use this to let your listeners know what they are getting when they subscribe!
  • Price: You can set the price for your Subscription anywhere from $3 to $10 monthly.
  • Additional Info: This optional section allows you to give potential subscribers more information about your subscription. It's a great place to thank them for their support of your podcast!

On the right side of this page, you will see an example of how the subscription will look on your Buzzsprout website and the different payment options that your listeners can choose from.

Tracking Your Support

As you gain subscribers, you will be able to track your monthly revenue on the Listener Support and Subscription pages. We will show each supporter with their email and subscription information, as well as their personal emoji identifier! You will also get an idea of your projected earnings and a record of past revenue.

As soon as someone subscribes to your podcast, the revenue will show in your Buzzsprout Wallet. You will be able to apply the revenue toward your monthly Buzzsprout charges or cash it out via PayPal.

Marking Episodes as Subscriber-Only

If you've chosen premium content or bonus episodes, you'll now want to mark which episodes it applies to! To do this, click on an episode on your Episodes page, press the Edit This Episode button, and check the "Subscription Settings" box beneath the player!
